Sharks FC came from behind to see off a hard fighting Giwa FC in a week thirteen tie in the Nigerian Professional Football League at the Sharks FC Stadium
Giwa drew first blood in the 27th minute when Charles Okoro stabbed home from eighteen yards leaving Sharks defenders Ezekiel Michael and Alaba Osawe in his wake.
The Blue Angels drew level via a beautifully dispatched penalty kick by goalkeeper Isah Danladi for his fourth goal of the season after Ajani Ibrahim was brought down by Giwa’s left full back Madaki Chriyoung.
Ajani Ibrahim's low drive in the eightieth minute from nineteen yards beat goalkeeper Ojo Olorunleke to seal the tie and ensure that the Blue Angels still remain top of the table.
Ajani said after the game that he was grateful to God and believes Sharks can win the title.
“I really thank God for the goal I scored and I believe with this win we can keep up our game and eventually win the League,” Ajani told naijafootball247.com.
Meanwhile, Giwa FC’s scorer on the day, Charles Okoro told naijafootball247.com that there is still a lot to play for.
“It was a painful loss for us but we are not giving up. We still have a lot to play for and we will continue to fight,” Okoro said.
