The 2014 League Bloggers Awards (LBA) Player of the Season winner will receive a car prize courtesy of the headline sponsor of the event, 1960BET.
This year's LBA takes place at the Sheraton Hotels and Towers in Ikeja, Lagos on December 15.
General Manager of 1960BET, Seun Ojikutu, said his organisation has decided to give back to the sport in Nigeria as part of encouraging budding talents in the country's top flight, the Glo Premier League, for which the LBA will reward top actors in 16 categories next Monday.
"We view this partnership as one that will blossom into a very big relationship between 1960BET and the League Bloggers Awards (LBA). As an organisation we are always open to helping in the development of sports in the country and that is why we have decided to go into this sponsorship agreement.
"For the best player of the awards we will give out a KIA car as we believe it is a way to encourage other young people in the country to channel their energy positively as there is always reward for excellence in every chosen career including football and other sports," said Ojikutu during the signing ceremony between the two parties in Lagos on Monday.
LBA CEO, Ojeikere Aikhoje, also believes that the car prize from the sports betting company, which is the headline sponsor of the awards this year, will only spur on more players from the top division to put in their best in the coming campaigns.
"The recently-concluded season in the Glo Premier League is one of the best we have witnessed in years. Thanks to the players, coaches, clubs and the governing body of the league, the League Management Company (LMC). This car prize from 1960BET is befitting for the LBA Player of the Season, and will go a mile in helping to cement the relationship between the LBA and 1960BET," said Aikhoje.
LBA Ambassador, Victor Ezeji, also thumbed up the sports betting firm for its gesture to give out a car prize to the best player of the past season in the Glo Premier League.
"It's good news for the league, and it is only appropriate after a long, hard season to recognise the best player this way," said Ezeji.
The race for the 2014 LBA Player of the Season is among the quartet of Emem Eduok (Dolphins), Mfon Udoh (Enyimba), Peter Ebimobowei (Bayelsa
United) and Kingsley Bobby Sokari (Enyimba).
Last year, Kano Pillars' playmaker, Rabiu Ali, won the LBA Player of the Season.
